Sputnik Polska. Propaganda narratives and cases

A new study by Aliaksandr Aleshka explores propaganda narratives of Sputnik Polska based on the systematic monitoring of materials published from June 2019 to May 2020. Sputnik Polska, established inearly 2015, is a part of Sputnik, a Russian news agency and radio broadcaster which publishes online stories and radio shows, as well as videos.

The first chapter defines 12 most recurring propaganda narratives promoted in Sputnik Polska publications and provides exemplary cases from EUvsDisinfo database. Two other sections review most recurring pro-Kremlin propaganda narratives concerning Poland’s sovereignty and historical issues, based on Sputnik Polska publications.

Sputnik Polska’s entire propaganda operation consists of 12 major narratives concerning Polish imperialist intentions and its huge economic problems, lost sovereignty, Russophobia, and various history-related claims. Such content is mostly found in op-eds authored by either Sputnik journalists or external contributors.
