EAST Associated Fellow Diana Potjomkina presents a paper A Multidisciplinary Approach to Analyzing the Role of Experts in European Union’s Foreign Policy-Making at the Texas A&M University at Qatar. On 29-31 January, 2015 the University hosts the Liberal Arts International Conference Reinventing Ourselves: Innovation and the Liberal Arts (LAIC 2017).
In her paper Diana looks at the ways the EU engages governmental and non-governmental experts, biases in this process which account for a certain share of inefficiency in the EU’s policy, and ways for improving it. She proposes an innovative, interdisciplinary theoretical framework for analyzing the changing role of experts and expertise in foreign policy-making of the European Union.
